Tracking The Hardware

Every day, it seems that a LSU player or coach is being recognized for their accomplishments during this tremendous season.  It has been nearly impossible to keep up with all of the news, and it hardly seems fair to the players that their recognition gets lost in the shuffle.   So I’m putting all of the player’s and coaches’ accomplishments in one place for anyone that wants to reference them.   I’ll keep updating this page as awards are handed out.

For a quick visual, LSU put together a great video showing off all the hardware that this team has accumulated.  All of the awards are listed underneath the video.

Some Notes:

  • Tyrann Mathieu is the AP SEC Defensive Player of the Year while Morris Claiborne is the Coaches SEC Defensive Player of the Year.  Last year, Patrick Peterson was the Coaches SEC Defensive Player Of The Year (Nick Fairley won the AP).   Ron Cooper….sir…..well done.   If you’re a top notch defensive back recruit (winks towards Dutchtown high school), how could you not want to come play for LSU right now?    Oh yea, Claiborne (like Peterson last year) is projected to go in the Top-10 of the NFL draft.

  • I don’t care what anyone says.  It’s still a travesty that Brad Wing was not a finalist for the Ray Guy Award.

  • It’s pretty damn impressive that CBS and Sports Illustrated selected Tyrann Mathieu as a first team All-American at two different positions (defensive back and punt returner).

If I’m missing any awards, please leave a comment and let me know.  I’ll get it fixed.
