Confirming something we've already known for nearly a week now, LSU announces that Virginia Tech's Jeff Grimes will be the new offensive line & running game coordinator for the Tigers.
Grimes was on campus this past weekend meeting with recruits, with OL commit Garrett Brumfield already speaking highly of Grimes. One of his notable skills is reportedly recruiting, so it's good to see him already hitting it off with what LSU has coming in this cycle.
When Auburn won the 2010 national championship it was Grimes who coached that line, plus recruited all of the current offensive linemen for the Auburn group that just played for the national championship. Greg Robinson, 1st round NFL Draft prospect, was coached by Jeff Grimes.
If you ask VT folks, they'll say this is a tough loss for them, which speaks to the quality of Grimes' coaching. LSU got themselves a very good one to replace Greg Studrawa. Grimes, by all accounts, is an excellent teacher to go along with his recruiting acument.
Details of Grimes' deal haven't been released, but his numbers will most likely fall in line with the rest of the Tiger staff.
